Mimi G. PR: S2311 Leopard Print Coat

Leopard Print Coat & What I Wore

I saw a coat on the Nordstrom website and I knew I had to make one. I am totally embracing the animal print and since this Milly Belted Leopard Print Coat was $695.00!!! I figured it could make it myself for about $38.50 using my coupons from Joann. I knew I did not want buttons or a butterfly collar so I chose Simplicity 2311 View B.

I love that I can wear this open or closed and it looks just as amazing!

Pattern Description: Coat in two lengths with collar, sleeve and belt variations.

Pattern Sizing: I cut the 6 so it would give me wiggle room when I wore sweaters/tops

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? The jacket was pretty easy to put together since there were not that many pattern pieces. It is fully lined and the front and facings are interfaced so it took a little while to sew.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the style of the jacket and I really love that I can dress it up or rock it with Jeans and Tee.

Fabric Used: Some faux fur something or another from Joann..lol

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I moved the pockets from the sides to the PS and shortened it by 3″ because it was too long for me.

Conclusion: I love this jacket! I did want to mention that I made my lining first because I often begin a project and when I get to the lining I lose motivation so sewing that first kinda gets it out of the way, lol

I rocked my jacket with my recently made orange V1264 pants and a simple off white top from the Gap. I wore my Steve Madden patent leather pumps and added a little more color with my Green MK bag.
I also wore these awesome earrings and Cuff I got a Forever 21 and the necklace I picked up at H&M
My Sunglasses are my usual favorites from MK of course.
Here is a view of the jacket belted.

  1. It is very very pretty. I have the pattern and going now to try this out! Not my business, but really want to know: how much did this (all incl.)actually cost to You? Yes, it definitely looks as $700 jacket. No doubt.
