DIY Black Jumpsuit + Pattern Review McCall 6083 + Get The Look

Hi Darlings!
Yesterday I wrote about weighing down your hems and what the benefits are when appropriate of course and so today I am wearing the jumpsuit I made using McCalls 6083 which has the weights in the hem so that pant leg pulls slightly and falls to the floor.
Review of the pattern and Get The Look pics below 😉
Pattern Review McCall’s 6083

Pattern Description: Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 4 for the top and a size 10 for the bottom

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? This is a pretty easy pattern to tackle, I have made it before so I didn’t need the instructions however it is a good beginner project for those just getting started.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I don’t dislike anything. I like the wrap bodice and how quickly this sews up fr those days when you just want to do some mindless sewing without thinking too much, lol

Fabric Used: Rayon Jersey Black

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made?: None other than cut a size 4 for the top because the printed finished measurement was 35″ and I am a 32 so I knew that was enough ease for me and the pants I knew I wanted them to be loose and not cling to me so I cut the size 10 and just faded down the waist to fit the bodice.

Would you sew it again? No, I think I am done with it but I will probably use it to do a teaching video on reading and following patterns.

Would you recommend it to others? I do recommend this as a great beginner project, its easy to fit and there are very few pieces to cut and sew.

Meet Sam

When I was in San Fran I went to a little shop that was so cute and full of little gems, I found this delicate ring (worn in pic above) with a yellow stone and it was so darn cute I couldn’t help it.
Sam was the nice young man who let me wander aimlessly around his store, lol and was kind enough to humor me with a pic. He says  they didn’t have a site yet but here is the info I do have for them.

  1. Hey just a couple of quick questions because I might try to sew this tonite..first question did you alter the crotch area any and 2nd question did you add 1" to the bodice and length to the pants like the last ones you made, hope you understand me, thanks?

  2. O-M-G, ABSOLUTELY LOVE! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm getting this pattern. I hope I can make it looks as good as you. I mean DAMN GIRL! I continue to say…YOU ARE THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. That jumper is really cute! I may have to try it out. I hadn't been able to find any good modest jumpers. But, this may be a winner for me (^_^)

  4. So cute! I lo lo love this and it's an easy breezy piece for work. I'm going to the fabric store next week (next day off) and look for some cute jersey. Thanks for the coin weighing tip!!!

  5. I love it. I did mine in green, but a black one would probably be more versatile. Thank you for the tips on using weights. As I said before, your posts serve as a refresher course for this old diva. Keep it up!

  6. Girl u are too sharp! LOL, I picked up the pattern for the sew along, Joannes has them on sale $1.99. Hopefully the sew along will get me to start sewing from patterns I love DIY's cause the whole cutting out and laying the pattern out just takes forever lol. *BWEnaj*

  7. I did not alter the crotch because it is loose fitting and gathered but I did add 1" to the bodice and 2.5" to the length of the pants so they came to the floor.Follow me on my NEW Facebook page:www.facebook.com/mimigstyleblog
